So what is an Endowed University Chair? I am asked that often as I am on the Leadership Council for the First Endowed Chair in Human Sexuality in the USA. Amazing isn’t it that there is ONLY ONE. The chair is seated by Dr. Eli Coleman at the University of Minnesota’s Medical School’s Program in Human Sexuality. An Endowed Chair is a privately funded and supported investment vehicle that is research's way of ensuring an important body of knowledge and research continues in spite of and despite university and college funding being cut or a new incoming head of a department not favoring a researchers’ focus.
